Behold!
Don't be deceived by those words again. the people who believe
those words will understand who is the real Saviour.
Justice and truth would prevail!
The main theme of this composition is uncertainty and doubtfulness, it is also the lens that I have put on myself while looking at the world.
This composition is my first time trying to separate the functions of piano accompaniment and voice from each other My intention is to blend the meanings of what I want to convey (context) into the piano accompaniment, and the vocal part is to express certain intonation and attitude.
The lyric is from the NKJV version bible, Psalms 127. The reason why I chose a bass singer is that the timbre of bass is low enough to create shadow-like, ambiguous, even threatening feelings. I want to use these characteristics to convey my doubts and questions. In the meantime, the voice of a bass’ singer has strong expressivities and is able to generate great tension in his range. Combining such a unique timbre of voice with the sound of a piano can produce incredible musical effects.
